From the office to happy hour...

I'm not a fan of shopping for work clothes. Why, you ask? I hate spending money on pieces that aren't versatile. So when I do buy work-appropriate pieces, I always make sure I can get some fun-time wear out of them too.

This blouse is one of my favourite items. It suits a 9 to 5 schedule, and translates perfectly to after-work festivities. Pencil skirt by day- leather trimmed leggings and studded Steve Madden booties by night! Side-note: the below leggings are ideal if you're pondering the leather legging trend, but don't want to commit all the way. The thicker ponte material is perfect for the winter season as well- definitely a great purchase!

Happy Monday xo

Girl Crush.

I'm going to see Metric tonight, and I'm super excited about it! I think this is my 6th time seeing them? Maybe 7th? Between this and the Grey Cup, tonight is shaping up to be a pretty awesome night in Toronto.

I've been a long-time fan. Since the days Emily Haines still had black hair, and Metric opened up for Billy Talent at what was still called The Docks, back in 2004. I've had a girl crush ever since! Emily always looks fabulous, and masters the perfect balance between rocker edge and feminine chic. She's definitely got a love for sequins, leather and statement accessories. Wonder what she'll be wearing tonight...

Here's the opening track from Metric's newest album "Synthetica" (one of my favourites!). There is no official video for the track, but you get the gist:

Have a great weekend :)

These are a few of my favourite things...

I wore my absolute favourite fall outfit today. It's cozy, it's minimal, it's perfect. There's nothing overly creative about it- it's the simplest look to pull together and feel great in.

I rarely wear neutrals, but I fell in love with this cowl neck sweater from Left on Houston. It's so comfy and versatile, and essentially provides a built-in scarf! Heart.

Get in my closet.

Historically, I have always been a last minute holiday shopper. Ever year, I tell myself that I'll break the mould and get a head start... and then December 20th rolls around, and I begin to panic.

I'm proud to say that for the first time in years, I have actually managed to get a big chunk of it done!! (patting myself on the back)
I'm feeling pretty good about my choices. Just a few finishing touches, and I'll be aaall done.

Just for kicks, I've compiled a little Christmas list of my own... fun to dream, right?

First off is a stunning pair of House of Harlow 1960 raspberry booties. The Cutout Bernadette style to be exact. It's love.

I've got some great coats in my closet, but I've long wanted a Canada Goose parka. Ask anyone- I'm always cold. So every winter, I consider the investment...

This gem is from RW&Co. So Zooey, I can't handle it!

I'm lusting after this sequined chevron top from J.Crew. Nothing screams holidays like a little sparkle!

I've posted a few pics of this sweater before, but I'll do it again- loving this Zoe Karssen sweater!

I know it's a little Angelina, but I've been wanting a pair of emerald drop earrings with a ring to match. emerald accessories look amazing against an otherwise all-black palette (like the outfit I posted yesterday!)

These Stretch Jacquard pants by Hale Bob are killer- available at Want Boutique.

Last but not least, are the Breanne shades from Marciano. I have such a hard time finding sunglasses that suit my face- I've been wearing my Ray-Ban aviators for years as a result (although I do still love them!). These may be a suitable alternative...

What's on your list?

Back in black.

When in doubt, nothing is more eye-catching than an all-black ensemble. Black is universally flattering, and when accessorized and properly polished, ebony will look anything but bland.

There is a fine line between boring and brilliant. Last night I chose to spice up my all-black look with gold accessories, like my Otazu "Rockstar" necklace, and Aldo purple suede heels.

What do you think? Happy Sunday everyone :)

Fashion fatigued.

Yikes, I'm starting to feel kinda old.

I say this because I'm already experiencing fashion déjà-vu. Have you ever heard your mom say "Oh, that was in style when I was your age"? That's how I feel about camouflage. It was the go-to print when I was in grade 7- the height of style was a camo tank and Champion tearaways (yuck)! Then when I was 19, army prints experienced a brief resurgence. Now, yet again, camo is back with a vengeance... third time's a charm :)

One of my favourite recent purchases is a studded camo shirt from Zara (courtesy of my birthday gift card- thanks Leslie and Dave!). It's fun and versatile, and I've mentally concocted about a dozen outfits centered around this one piece. Here's a few ideas so far...

Here's some more camo-inspired style- hmmm maybe pants are next?

Fur: friend or faux?

Due to popular demand (and by popular demand, I mean a single text from a friend lol)- I thought I'd dedicate a post to FUR! I want to emphasize that I'm a huge animal lover, so faux is definitely the way to go for this trend.

Admittedly, I've been sort of on the fence when it comes to the fur craze. It can be difficult to pull of this look without... how to put this gently... looking like a nightwalker, hehe. Also, some fur pieces can be overwhelming and add too much volume to an otherwise petite frame. However, when paired with delicate, feminine patterns and pieces- fur can look fab!

Fur pieces make a statement; avoid creating a smorgasbord of fur, bulky accessories and loud patterns. If you're on the shorter side like myself, it's also important to pick pieces that won't add a ton of bulk (no one wants to look like a fuzzy Oompa Loompa!). Here's how I rocked the look last week...

Here's some more inspiration (the first one is a bit of a trend mashup, but meh... it works if you live in Parkdale!):

If you're like me, you probably don't want to invest a fortune in fast fashion. Here are some affordable pieces from TopShop and Forever XX1...

Happy Monday xoxo

Brrr, it's cold in here.

I know I always talk about how much I love fall fashion (and I do!), but even I must admit that this weather has been bringing me down just a touch! The transition into wintery temperatures can be tough- it's hard to look fashionable when your teeth are ch-ch-chattering!

On even the gloomiest of days when you just can't be bothered to come up with an imaginative outfit, the easiest solution is... a scarf! Seriously, it's the easiest way to stay cute and cozy. Feel like wearing jeans and a boring old sweater? Nothing like a fun printed scarf to liven up your look. It's the best fall accessory :)

If you're feeling adventurous, you can even throw a scarf in your hair for a little bohemian flare  (P.S. Luna says hello, everybody!)

Stay warm and have a great weekend ahead, folks!
