Festival wear.

With Osheaga less than a week away, I'm thinking of some fashionable festival outfits to bring along. I want to cover my bases and come prepared for all weather scenarios- I learned the hard way last year at Lollapalooza that despite enjoying back to back wicked shows, the aftermath of a toasted blackberry and muddy feet are the pits!
As far as I'm concerned, there are some essentials you always need to pack for such an occasion:
- Shorts
- Breezy tank and/or tee
- Lightweight dress
- Hooded jacket
- Wellies
- Accessories (obviously!)

Here's some inspiration:

Can't wait :)

Date Night.

Last night, Mike and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner and dancing (err, just watching actually) at BabalĂșu, followed by drinks at Hemingway's. We so rarely hang out in Yorkville- it was awesome to enjoy a night out in one of Toronto's frilliest nooks.

I decided on a Sherri Hill dress and blush Nine West heels for the occasion:

We clean up nice, if I do say so myself :)

Here are some other summer outfits from this past week (definitely on a button-up shirt + denim shorts kick!):

Hope you all had a great weekend :)  xo

Summer crush.

I've got one.
On the Alice + Olivia box pleat leather skirt.
I want it in my life, baaad. So many fun ways I could wear it...

What's that? You don't have $400 to blow? Me neither. Let's this give this Urban Outfitters version a shot instead:

I'm gonna be a supermodel...

Ever wanted to know what it's like to be a model?
I'm fortunate enough to have met an amazing photographer (Maggie Habieda-Nowakowski, holla!) a while back, and a few months ago I got to go a little wild and style a photo shoot starring... me :)
It felt all kinds of weird, at first. Remember that episode of Friends where Chandler can't smile for his and Monica's wedding pictures? That's me... like,  times a million. I turn red, I stutter and lose my ish in a serious way. Paired with my 5 foot-2 and change frame.. needless to say, never much thought of myself as the subject of a photo shoot!  But it's really neat what a make-up artist and good lighting can do... and the whole experience was rad, it was a ton of fun to experiment with different looks and pieces

Thought I'd share some of my fave shots of that day with you:

Who wears short shorts?

If you're anything like me, you've been thoroughly enjoying your summer... maybe a little too much?! Ever since hitting the East Coast early last month, it seems like I've been going out constantly and enjoying a looot of fried goodies and patio beers. Result: Those shorts aren't fitting quite the way I'd like them to :S
If you're feeling a touch body conscious but don't quite want to part ways with those Daisy Dukes, the solution is.... tights! I've been using this trick forever- it's a great way to keep shorts in your rotation, while giving your look a sophisticated edge. You can lighten up the colours for the summer (think- red shorts and sheer tights!), and darken up the palette straight into the winter.
I'll hit the treadmill hard real soon... in say, September ;)

Hit 'em high, hit 'em low.

One of this season's must-have items is the hi-low skirt. This look can literally work for just about any occasion. Whether you're daring enough to bare some midriff, catching up with a friend over coffee, or you just want to wear something fun to the office- there's a way to wear this look that will work for you! For a more classic look, try a neutral-toned skirt and pair it with a striped top and dainty jewekry. If you're feeling a little more adventurous- go floral, go aztec print, go BOLD.

Tell me I'm your National Anthem.

Lana Del Rey is totally a guilty pleasure of mine. I absolutely love her videos (if only for the fashion and nail art!). I'm loving the late 50s- early 60s throwback- this is kind of a new age JFK and Jackie O love story, with a hint of hip hop flare. Having recently visited Dallas and learned a little more about the  JFK assassination- not gonna lie, I may have shed a tear at the end of this video ;)

Body candy.

Sometimes 7 am is just too early to think of a creative outfit. I'm totally guilty of this- sometimes I'm just too lazy or sleepy to think of anything fun or creative! My solution? ACCESSORIZE. Even jeans and a t-shirt can look stunning when paired with some neck and/or arm candy. Ghetto gold and turquoise are forever favourites of mine...

Minty fresh.

Obvi, one of this spring and summer's biggest colour trends is MINT. Mint jeggings, mint tops... mint everything! Here are a few ideas for how to rock this look if you're still feeling a little hesitant... Hint: Don't be afraid to try a bold and adventurous look! You'd be surprised how well mint pairs with stripes and animal prints.
